All employees who come to a Lab site need to be vaccinated against influenza. Employees working on site can confirm they are vaccinated in the Lab’s Occupational Health Record system (OHR). Employees who have badged into a Lab site in the last 30 days were sent an instructional email from the Occupational Health Record system. The OHR vendor sent an email in error to those who were vaccinated through a Lab clinic. If you were vaccinated at the Lab, your record will be updated automatically, and you can ignore the email.
This flu vaccine requirement follows a UC policy that requires the flu vaccination for employees working on site. This policy does not apply to employees who are working away from a Lab site. However, those who do not work on a Lab site are strongly encouraged to be vaccinated to reduce the risk of serious illness.
The Lab will host additional flu vaccine clinics in Building 26:
- December 8 and 15 from 1 to 2 p.m.
Make an appointment and complete your consent form at clinic.lbl.gov.
Employees who do not plan to receive a flu vaccine should also go to the OHR to report they will not be vaccinated. Those not vaccinated will need to wear a face-covering inside all Lab facilities until the flu season is over, usually in April, even if COVID face-covering requirements are lifted. You can receive your flu shot at community locations such as pharmacies. Lab health plans cover flu vaccinations without a copay. You can learn more about this year’s flu vaccine from the Centers for Disease Control.
