How the Program Will Work
When researchers or division operations staff clean out labs or identify excess chemicals, the unneeded chemicals can be taken to the Reuse Facility rather than requisitioned as waste.
The chemicals will be housed in the Reuse Facility and listed as such in the Chemical Management System (CMS). Anyone searching for needed chemicals can find them, request them, and have them delivered within 1-2 business days. Some chemicals/quantities may be available for direct pickup from the Facility.

Chemicals That Can Be Included in the Program
The Reuse Facility will only accept:
- Chemicals that are in their original, new or gently-used containers
- Chemicals that have not degraded, nor have the potential to degrade over time.
The Reuse Facility will not accept chemicals that are pyrophoric, acutely toxic, water reactive, or time sensitive. Reuse Facility staff will perform a visual inspection of containers and let you know if they can be accepted.
If you are interested in donating like-new chemicals in their original containers to be a part of the program, please reach out to Chemsafety@lbl.gov.
