1. Q: When are cranes required?
A: There is no specific requirement to use a crane, rather they are available for use on an as needed basis. This includes requesting assistance from the Facilities professional rigging group for consulting on lifts and performing lifts with special emphasis on conducting high consequence high value lifts.
2. Q: Are there preferred types of cranes that we should order?
A: Yes, domestic manufactured equipment is preferred for traceability purposes. Regardless of origin however all cranes and hoisting devices must adhere to the American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) design and manufacturing standards. This is to ensure all equipment is traceable back to the manufacturer of origin, which helps to prevent the possibility of suspect counterfeit equipment being used. Reach out to procurement for assistance or the program SME.

A: Depending on your needs or questions you can do the following:
