Each division is responsible for the purchasing of hoisting, lifting & rigging equipment based on their operational needs.
Purchases can be made through procurement directly the eBuy system or eCard method. A procurement buyer will be assigned for the purchase of the equipment.
Cranes, hoists & rigging equipment is a restricted purchase due to the possibility of suspect counterfeit components. When ordering equipment make sure that all equipment comes with the manufacturers certificate of proof load testing. This must be provided to the FAC crane service vendor as part of the inspection process for inventory tracking and qualification of equipment. For commercial lifting fixtures without certified load ratings, an LBNL Engineering Safety Note must be written to determine the safe load capacity and furnish guidance for load testing. Defer to “Inventory, Inspection & Testing” section on this webpage for testing criteria.
