Respiratory hazards can exist in various forms in your workplace. If you are concerned about exposure to air contaminants such as toxic particles, vapors, gases, fumes, or mists and/or would like to use one of the following types of respirators, click here (link to the request form) to submit a service request.
Dust Masks

Dust masks are only intended for voluntary use against non-hazardous materials. A training session with the Respirator Program Administrator is required to be eligible to use a dust mask as personal protective equipment. To get started, please complete this request form (link to the request form).
If you have already taken EHS 0311 – Respirator Awareness Training (Dust Mask), you can purchase masks through the eBuy procurement system. Please note that only NIOSH-approved dust masks can be used at the Lab. Commonly used masks include 3M Models 8510, 8511, 9210, and 9211. Click HERE to see a list of NIOSH-approved dust masks (also called N95 Particulate Filtering Facepiece Respirators).
Elastomeric Respirators

Half-face and full-face elastomeric respirators are used by Lab employees to protect them against various forms of air contaminants they are exposed to in their work environment. To be eligible to wear an elastomeric respirator, an employee needs to complete a medical exam with Health Services, as well as training and a fit test with the Respirator Program Administrator. To get started, please complete this request form. EHS will issue a respirator to you once you are approved to wear one. To remain eligible, you will need to return for an annual fit test and training.
