Waste Management ensures that all hazardous and mixed waste from the generator’s site is removed in a safe and timely manner.
Waste generators will submit a request for hazardous waste pickup when the container(s) are full or before the accumulation time exceeds 275 days. The limit of 275 days ONLY applies if kept in work area SAA and quantity limits apply. Administrative limit onsite is 60 days if waste accumulated in a WAA on the main facility. Electronic requisitions must be received, processed, and approved prior to waste being picked up. Hazardous waste technicians will only pickup hazardous waste for which they have requisitions.
Hazardous Waste Pickup Schedule
Hazardous waste will generally be picked up 1-3 days after requisitions are processed and approved.
Waste Requisition Review
After the waste generator submits a hazardous waste requisition using the web-based Hazardous Waste Requisition, the assigned Generator Assistant will review the requisition to ensure that the waste has been properly characterized for storage, recycling, treatment, and ultimate disposal. He or she may determine that additional information is required from the generator because:
- The waste was not adequately described.
- We need additional information about how the waste was generated.
- Documents were not completely filled-out, signed or are missing.
If there is neither a waste pickup or communication from Waste Management by the scheduled pickup day (hazardous waste) or within two weeks (radioactive or mixed waste), contact your Waste Services Generator Assistant or Kelley Etherington (x5867)
