Berkeley Lab and the DOE Site Office recently completed a review of Integrated Safety Management (ISM) implementation in our research labs. Thank you to everyone who participated, sharing your time and offering your insights.
Overall, the results indicate that ISM is being implemented well at Berkeley Lab. This was evident in how staff are onboarded, trained and authorized, along with how staff identify hazards, plan their work ,and implement safety controls. Opportunities for continuous improvement were identified, and the next step is to plan the specific actions Berkeley Lab can take to drive improvements to ISM.
