February 2026 Enhancements: The latest enhancements to WPC focus on training, OJT and work authorization status visibility. Some of the highlights being introduced include:
- Worker’s training status can be viewed from the “Training Courses” tab on an active Activity by clicking the drop down icon for any training course.
- Worker’s training status can also be viewed by clicking the new drop down icon next to their name from the “Manage Workers” page.
- OJT status is now available from the “My Work Summary” tab.
- A new column for “Authorization Status” now available from “My Projects” and “My Division Projects” tabs. A red circle with the minus symbol indicates that at least one worker on the activity is not authorized to work. You can see each worker’s authorization status by clicking the drop down icon.
- An Activity’s status is now highlighted in a colored box with hover over displays explaining the status.
- New training details for completed training, incomplete/expired training and waived training are available from the “My Division’s Workers” dashboard. Data can be exported and individual workers and their supervisors can be notified via email from this page.
- Division Safety Coordinators will be able to select and see data from multiple divisions from the “Workers” tab.
Many of these improvements were implemented based on feedback from users. If you have suggestions to improve WPC Activity Manager, please submit them here.

September, 2025. In response to user feedback, the WPC Activity Manager has been updated to improve its on-the-job training (OJT) functionality. OJT is a key element of integrated safety management and helps our staff learn how to perform their work successfully and safely. Watch the video below:
May, 2025. New enhancements are coming to Work Planning and Control (WPC) Activity Manager. WPC is a key component of Berkeley Lab’s Integrated Safety Management System. It is a primary tool used to describe the work we perform, identify the hazards and identify the safety controls for that work. It is also how we assign most of the safety training requirements and demonstrate that staff are authorized to work.
Coming soon, you will notice the following enhancements:
- Monthly emails – You will notice a new monthly email documenting actions that need your attention. These emails, sent monthly to Activity and Project Leads, Supervisors and Workers, will highlight actions for you to complete along with instructions on how to complete those actions. This will allow removal of obsolete or duplicative emails and notifications from the WPC system to reduce the overall number of these you receive.
- Create folders in Attachments – You will be able to organize files in the attachments section by creating folders and moving files into the folders. Old copies of the WPC activity will be automatically stored in the Archives folder to minimize clutter. (Click here for a brief video overview of this feature.)
We are continually improving WPC Activity Manager and are beginning to identify the next set of enhancements to the system. Your feedback helps. If you have suggestions to improve WPC Activity Manager, please submit them here.
