Imagine for a moment that you’re planning a completely new research experiment. It’s likely that someone at Berkeley Lab has already done something similar, so you don’t necessarily need to start from scratch. Take advantage of internal knowledge to help you plan your work – using existing LBNL expertise can seriously speed up your work planning process (ISM steps 2 and 3). There are several resources available to help you do this:
- Consult with the Scientific Safety and Collaboration Alliance (SSCA). SSCA is composed of volunteers with expertise in specific areas who have agreed to share their knowledge. Simply reach out to the most relevant SSCA volunteer for advice and discussion.
- Search WPC Activity Manager. From Search > Basic Search, change “Search By” to “Statement of Work” and type in a few key words associated with your work. If you find a similar activity, reach out to the Activity Lead with your questions.
- EHS Division liaisons and SMEs may also be aware of similar types of work.
