Overview
Each chemical owner is required to perform a chemical inventory reconciliation at least once every two years. This responsibility reinforces owner-level stewardship and accountability for chemical management within each division.
Regular reconciliation is essential for maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring the safe and compliant management of chemicals. It helps identify critical issues such as un-inventoried chemicals, old or unnecessary chemicals that require disposal, and materials in poor condition.
The use of RFID technology significantly reduces the time and effort needed for reconciliation, enhancing both efficiency and accuracy in the process.

Schedule
- This schedule is based on the sequence of reconciliation performed during the 2023-2024 site wide reconciliation cycle a building level. Some labs may be off cycle or have performed more reconciliation since then. The due date of the next reconciliation of each room is two years from when it was last reconciled (per the institutional requirement).
- EHS will follow this schedule to provide building-level support (including training sessions and stationed support). You can always email cms@lbl.gov to request assistance.
- The schedule is subject to change depending on the progress of the reconciliation and will be updated periodically. EHS will email chemical owners and their identified reps (if any) before starting each building.
