
Overview:
Mental health conditions may qualify as serious health conditions and for job-protected leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and/or the California Family Rights Act (CFRA).

| Description | Examples |
| Time off for mental health treatment or recovery. | *If unable to perform essential job functions because of anxiety and need time away. *If you need time off for therapy visits. *If you need a reduced schedule for 4 hours instead of 8. |
Eligibility:
- Must have worked for the lab for at least 12 months
- Must have worked 1,250 hours in the past 12 months
- Must provide medical certification
What You Get:
- Up to 12 weeks of job-protected leave
- Continued health insurance
Steps to Take:
- Submit a leave request form
- Have your health provider complete the medical certification form
- Send documents to idam@lbl.gov
