Emergency Procedures
- In the event of smoke or fire, do not open the printer’s enclosure.
- Call 911 and pull the fire alarm immediately.
- If it is safe to do so, turn off the 3D printer, then unplug it.
- Evaluate if it is safe to attempt extinguishment. (Note: Use a standard Class ABC extinguisher for plastics, but ONLY use a Class D extinguisher if printing with combustible metal powders).
- Aim the fire extinguisher at the base of the fire or through the vents of the printer enclosure.
- If the fire spreads or worsens, evacuate immediately.
- Close the lab door behind you to contain the hazard.
